coupons in the mail, coupons: This is the lowest I've ever been, and I really need help coming out of this

This is the lowest I've ever been, and I really need help coming out of this hole. I am the single mother of 4 wonderful children who live with me. Their father is nowhere to be found and I have been on my own working job to job at a temp agency because it's the only place hiring in this small town. My oldest is 18, but she's stuck here with me because she knows her support is what keeps us off the streets. If I didn't have her to babysit at night I wouldn't be able to work.. God bless her for putting her life on hold for us. I won't lie, I get foodstamps. For my family of 5 we get $200 a month. I am huge on couponing to try and stretch what little we have as far as it can go. But lately, the price of the paper has gone up and I just can't afford to buy it for the coupons anymore. Now our $200 is gone within the first half of the month, and we're left to fend for ourselves for the rest. I just can't do it anymore.. The rent, utilities, clothes for the children, gas for the various jobs I do.. it's too much for me to handle. But I don't want to lose my babies! I don't want to beg for money, but I would like to ask for coupons! That way we can stretch our foodstamps again and afford to eat. Any coupons that aren't expired, we're greatful for. I would also appreciate any clothes donations for my kids. I will give my information in a private message for anyone interested. We're located in Ohio. God bless!

Do you use Coupons? Would you like to Swap Coupons?I Can Help You!!!-Please Read

Hello thrifty shoppers & coupon clippers- I would like to get as many Aidpage members as possible to join my Coupon Swapper group.Once I find out how many active members are interested it will be easier to work out the details. I have a couple ideas but I need to know how many are willing to participate. In order to participate you must: *contribute atleast one coupon (couppon cannot be expired) *Honesty will be a big factor in makeing this group work. Once I know how many memebers I will be able to put the rest of the details.I know by wording it like this it sounds unorganized and unthought out, but it really is thought out, and I do have an organised plan to make this group work, it is truely just alot easier to know how many memebers we will be starting with. If you want to be apart of this group leave a comment, once I have an idea on how many we will start with I will one-on-one message each of you that leave a public comment, to collect more info. Then I will make a list of everyone and if we have a large enough group we will do a chain where we forward an envelope of coupons to each Coupon Clipper, if the group is small then we will make it a Coupon board and those want specific coupons just send a SASE....I am hopping we have a large group!

Here is a link to a post about how to request free samples and coupons, as well as make a coupon book/organizer, just CLICK HERE

Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program -Ohio

See the link above for a list of foods allowable to purchase with the senior famers' nutrition program and the map and the map for the different regions. And if you are homebound you can get someone to go get the food for you using the coupons. I just called my friend a senior in Ohio to let her know as she is on very fixed income..

About the Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program

Fresh fruits and vegetables are an important part of federal dietary guidelines. They are also good sources of fiber; low in sugar, fat and sodium; and nutrient-rich, yet low in calories. In addition, fresh fruits and vegetables add flavor and variety to meals.

The Department of Aging partners with Area Agencies on Aging to offer the Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program in 44 counties. The program operates from June through October each year and is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Eligibility and Enrollment

You are eligible for the Ohio Senior Farmers’ Market program if you are age 60 or older and have an annual income of $20,035 or less as a single person.

To enroll, contact your area agency on aging. Staff there will be able to tell you how to access coupons. Participants receive ten $5.00 coupons valid through October. If you are homebound, you may select someone trustworthy to pick up and redeem coupons for you.

You can use your coupons at participating farmers’ markets and roadside stands. Look for the senior farmers’ market poster when shopping.
How the Program Works

Coupons can be redeemed for fresh vegetables, fruits and herbs and honey. Eligible items are listed in the chart below. Please select produce equal to the amount of the coupon. No change will be given.

Coupons may not be used to purchase flowers, potted plants, crafts, eggs, nuts, rice, popcorn, dried produce, dried herbs and baked goods. Coupons also may not be used to purchase processed foods, such as jams, apple butter, apple cider or maple syrup. Lemons, oranges, limes, grapefruits, pineapples, mangos and bananas are not grown locally and may not be purchased with coupons.

Saving money

I get coupons for restaurants and some baby stuff in the mail. I would be willing to keep them if someone wants them. Clipper magazine for Western NY places and a sample of infant formula, free advertising on either of my websites... telecommunication-related or music/coffee related.  That free advertising needs to pass a review and approval. If legit and good product or service I will help by a free link and logo.

We all need to help each other find ways to make ends meet, especially for the children.

In-Store Coupons can be printed at home, organized, and used to plan your shopping trip so you won’t waste time or money buying on impulse. (Read additional related posts listed below.) You don’t need to buy a newspaper to get coupons. You can use the sites listed below and pick up your supermarket’s store sale circular the next time you run in for milk. If you plan ahead…make the supermarket sale and coupon circular pick up a routine stop once a week while you are out doing errands nearby. You not only save time and money the next time you are in the store, you’ll also save gas since you won’t be running back and forth for just a few items at a time…the ones you forgot when you were there earlier in the day or week.

Coupon Clipping In the News

CNN.com

Economic schock gives rise to coupon cutting. “The rising price of consumer goods is driving shoppers from all walks of life to use coupons for food, beauty aids and pharmacy products at an increasing rate, according to some of the country’s largest purveyors of manufacturers’ coupons.” And it’s not just for the grocery store.

ABC News

Stephanie Nelson interview: ”Supermarket owners know that 98 percent of coupons are thrown away,” Nelson said . “Most people can’t be bothered going through the papers, looking for the store’s sales and clipping coupons. They think it will take too much time and it will be too much trouble. That’s why the markets call people like me ‘ultimate deal finders.’ ”

Smart Money

And while these sites offer a wide breadth of discounts, they’re also causing a lot of confusion among shoppers, making it more difficult to weed out the really good deals from the duds. “There are hundreds, if not thousands of coupon sites out there offering the exact same thing,” says Edgar Dworsky, founder of consumer advocacy site Consumer World.”

Workshops show you how to get big coupons

Workshops Show You How To Get Big Coupons

It's not your typical party, but in a struggling economy for some mom's coupon parties are becoming the next big thing.

"I'm going to broaden your horizons," Rose Jordan said as she prepared for her first BeCentsAble Workshop in Weatherford. "You are not going to spend hours clipping coupons."

Instead of taking on the savings battle alone, Jordan is teaching a group of women how to do it together in just 30 minutes a week.  "I'm excited," workshop attendee Maxine Hill said. "I just want to cut my grocery bill."

Jordan, along with Laura Thornquist, host coupon parties across the metroplex.  The women swear you can save up to 60-percent on grocery bills, but you have to learn how use coupons.

"I was anti-coupon! No time, mother of two, busy career… and my husband said try coupons," explained Thornquist. "I said no way, no how."

But after her husband was laid off from work, Thornquist says her family was put in a tough financial situation and she turned to BeCentsAble.net.  "My grocery bills used to be $800, now its $320," she said.

Thornquist said her secret is to look for sales and double up on coupons.  That means you can combine a manufacturer's offer with one offered by the store.

She also adds that one coupon can be good for an entire line of products, not just the item in the picture.

Now Thornquist says the Sunday paper has become her new best friend. "You use four coupons on one product and I guarantee you'll get it free."

In one example, by using all the strategies and stacking coupons, BeCentsAble was able to buy three eight packs of batteries. The batteries were on sale, then a $5 rebate, three store coupons, and three manufacturer coupons for a price of $2 for three packs were used. Then a $3 off a purchase of $15 was applied and the average price per pack was $1!

Another example was the purchase of Purex laundry detergent costing $3.98. If it's on sale and you use a coupon it can only cost you 48-cents.

"I'm all for the tricks tell me and I'll follow," workshop attendee Marianne Lusk said.

The 2-hour workshops are being held across Dallas/Fort Worth and cost between $15 and $25 a person.  Find out more about the workshps at mydallasmommy or on the becentsable website.

I am creating new areas of help for everyone here to use

Hi everyone...as you may have noticed....I have been posting a lot in the last day or two.

I have been working on my own lil section of AidPage.com to help people out.  I have started with creating the following pages and I hope that you will visit them on a regular basis and that I can at least help someone with something along the way.

The pages are, in no particular order:

1. SmileADay - http://smileaday.aidpage.com/

SmileADay - Something funny once a day to bring a smile to your face, all I ask is that you post a smilie face if I make you smile.

2. Something.Free - http://something-free.aidpage.com/

Something.Free - This is where I am positing different freebies that I find, so far I have found free pizza, movies and chocolate...come and find out what else is next!

3. JobSitesAndTips - http://jobsitesandtips.aidpage.com/

JobSitesAndTips - This is where I will be posting lists of different job boards; tips for resumes; job interview; and stuff of that nature.  Things to help you find that job and keep it.

4. BabyHelp - http://babyhelp.aidpage.com/

BabyHelp - Here I plan to try and help all new mothers with where to find diaper samples, coupons, and help. Tips, helpful ideas and anything else that I can find.  I will post all free offers that deal with babies here as well that I come across.

5. PlacesToFindHelp - http://placestofindhelp.aidpage.com/

PlacesToFindHelp - Is where I will try to post general information for those in need.  Such as what I have started so far; Car Charities and Mortgage programs to save your home.

So...I will be adding a few more pages along the way...but I just wanted to make a more focused area for some certain items as I was not able to find them myself when I first got here. So please check them out and let me know what you think.  Your feedback is appreciated.  Thank you.

I think that it would be a good idea for those of you who haven't gotten their $40 Off coupons for being able to purchase a digital tv converter - you should go ahead and apply for them now.

I say this because at the time I signed up for mine it was in the news that the government had run out of the coupons and that it might be a while before they had the funding to issue some more. But I decided to apply online anyway. And guess what? After forgetting about it, I got my two coupons in the mail about three weeks later!

So if you still want the coupons then you should apply for them before time runs out! You can find more information about this from my Working From Home Blog.

COUPONS

I joined the pssst program through General Mills.  You cannot get a week's worth of grocieries but they do send items and coupons when they have a new item.  Join at:  www.pssst.generalmills.com

They don't spam and once in a while you get a coupon for a free item.  I also buy coupons on ebay.  Yes I actually buy them.  For less than two dollars you can get 15-20 coupons.  I do think it is worth it.  When I can get the Melitta coffee that goes for $4 a can for $1.78 I will pay $1.50 for 20 coupons!  Melitta retails at Walmart for $2.78 and with the dollar off coupon it is $1.78.  In the traditional supermarkets Melitta is $4 a can.  I will only buy coupons that are in lots of 15 or 20 and with an expiration date of more than 2 months out.
